Energy systems are complex entities and it is usually very difficult to grasp this complexity in a single figure. Sankey-diagrams, or flow diagrams, are a special kind of tools that give such an opportunity.

Sweden, as many other European countries as well as Eurostat, has designed its own Sankey-diagrams. This paper proposes to discuss a new narrative about Sweden’s energy system, taking end-use as a starting point and showing at a glance orders of magnitude, interconnections and statistical uncertainties.
